classeswhat do I need to bring? One of the brilliant things about salsa is that you don't need any special gear to get started. The following everyday items will help you get the most out of your class:
what will I learn?Beginners (Level 1)Our beginners' programme covers the base moves and techniques of salsa in 3 x 5-week sets. This means that can join the class at any time. At this level the emphasis is on fun and footwork! You'll learn everything you need to get out there on the floor with your classmates: salsa timing, basic turn patterns, fundamentals of leading and following, etc. We'll also introduce you to salsa body-movement, and throw in a bit of merengue to heat things up! If you're just interested in having a weekly dance with good friends you're welcome to stay at this Level, but if you want more... Improvers (Level 2)Once you've got a firm grip on the basics (usually after a minimum of 15 weeks as a Beginner) we'll talk to you about joining the Improvers class. By this stage you'll be keen for a bit of a challenge / more complicated moves, so you'll learn a new combination every 5 weeks. At the same time we'll help you focus on improving your technique and adding some flash to your dancing with salsa 'shines' and multiple spins. We'll also introduce you to some of the different styles of salsa - including Rueda de Casino (Cuban-style group salsa) - as well as look at a few other dances in the salsa family - like bachata and cha-cha-cha. And if you still can't get enough you're welcome to join in with the beginners classes for free! To join a Salsabeat class contact Salsa Phil. |
